What are your resolutions for the new year, and how do you plan on achieving them?

The start of a new year is an exciting time – it’s always an opportunity to set and achieve new goals for yourself. As we enter the new year, I’m determined to make this year the best one yet by improving my overall wellbeing and adopting healthier habits.

My first resolution is to drink more water every day, as staying hydrated is essential for healthy living. To ensure that I keep up with this goal, I’ll be carrying around a reusable water bottle everywhere I go throughout the day.

How have you grown in the past year, both emotionally and mentally?

The past year has been a challenge for many of us, with the pandemic disruption to daily life and dealing with restrictions to go out or stay at home. Despite the hardships that this period has brought, it can also offer important learning opportunities.

This past year I have grown significantly both emotionally and mentally. I’ve learned how to appreciate little moments of joy each day, like dinner time with family or taking a walk outside, rather than waiting for moments in the future that may seem more grandiose. I’ve also taken up journaling which has given me an outlet to express my ideas and feelings that would otherwise remain inside me without release.

Overall, this last year was not easy but it gave me insight into psychological growth and I learned new techniques to aid in creating positive mental health habits for the future.

What challenges did you face in the past year, and how did you overcome them or grow from them as a result?

Last year was certainly one to remember– and not always in the best ways. One of the biggest challenges I faced was coming to terms with our new reality, particularly as fear and loss filled the entire world. It felt like nothing I could do could make things better, but then I decided the most important thing was to focus on how I could better my own life.

I sought out activities that allowed me to focus on my personal growth and productivity such as journaling, picking up a new hobby, or reading more books. Although last year was definitely hard, it came with some silver linings as well; I gained a newfound appreciation for slowing down and investing in myself which has only made me stronger both mentally and emotionally in the long run.
