January is a time to start fresh and create new routines. You can use your bullet journal for this! Bullet journals are a great way to track your habits, keep up with life events, and plan out projects in an organized way. This blog post provides ideas on January themes and spreads as well as ideas of what you could add to your bullet journal for the year ahead.

January Bullet Journal Ideas

January is the first month of the year, so you may find yourself starting a new journal and wondering what to write about this year. The wonderful thing about bullet diaries is that they’re adaptable.

I’ve never had a typical planner because I don’t utilize half of it or don’t like the layout. You may alter the layout every week until you discover something you love with bullet journaling!

There are a few things most people include in their layouts each month:

Cover page: In order to promote a new month, you need to create the page that introduces it. It might be as minimal as just having the name of the month on one page with a decorated cover. However, you may include anything personalized that you enjoy in addition to this.

Calendar spread – where you write down a monthly calendar with small boxes to jot down notes about what’s happening.

Gratitude line a day – These layouts teach us to be more aware in our everyday lives. You may keep track of your blessings (or multiple things, depending on your layout) or make a line-by-line journal entry. Or you may use this page as a mix of both!

Trackers – The tracker pages are where things get very personal. There are a lot of different things to track. Some of the most popular ones are:

  • Goal trackers
  • Mood trackers
  • Fitness Trackers
  • Sleep Trackers
  • Habit Trackers (that can track multiple habits across the month)

Weekly spreads – Some individuals just stick with a monthly calendar spread, but many people use weekly spreads as well. Weekly spreads are a fantastic tool for experimenting with various concepts and finding something that works best for you. You can’t do that with a normal planner!

That’s all there is to it for your bullet journal basics. You don’t have to use them all in each month! It’s entirely up to you!
